The University’s medical benefits are governed under Regulations Governing The Staff Medical Benefits Scheme (SMBS).

02 Primary Care

Whether you are on or off-campus, you may access the University’s primary care services conveniently.

UHS Campus Clinic

General consultation, physiotherapy and dental care are provided to you and your dependents for free or at cost at the campus clinic.

Outside Panel Doctors Scheme

With well over 300+ clinic locations in Hong Kong, the Outside Panel Doctors Scheme provides general consultation to you and your dependents at discounted rates subsidized by the University.

03 Secondary and Tertiary Care

You and your dependents’ medical expenses for specialist consultation, maternity care and hospitalization are reimubrsable up to $400,000 per person per academic year.

Self-pay Medical Scheme

You and your dependents may also receive specialist consultation,​ Chinese Medicine Consultation​, Physiotherapy, Diagnostic and imaging screening and more at fully self-pay preferential prices through external medical network providers.

Self-pay Dental Scheme

With a discounted annual fee, you and your dependents may enjoy one free scaling and unlimited dental services (selected items only) from one of the dental groups in Hong Kong.

05 Insurance Coverage

The University’s Insurance Model

Apart from the $400,000 hospitalization coverage under SMBS, the University has partnered with BUPA to extend it for expenses in excess of SMBS.

SMBS Coverage:

HKD 400,000

Catastrophic Insurance

Covers serious illnesses including all cancers (malignancies) and brain tumours (excluding carcinoma-in-situ), organ transplants and ultra-operations, etc.


Plan 1: HKD 750,000
Plan 2: HKD 500,000
Plan 3: HKD 200,000

(Acquired by the University)

Top-up Medical Insurance

Covers the shortfall in excess of the actual expense and SMBS coverage.

Coverage: HKD 750,000

(Voluntary)

Transferrability

Upon leaving or retiring from the university, you may also transfer to an individual policy offered by BUPA for lifelong protection.
